Silkweed,
or Silky, is 60 cm and fully jointed. Cissy is 21" I
believe and nicely jointed. The CEDs are 19" but they already
have their own page. Scroll down for history and some new
stuff.... there are more Obitsus and Cissi here now, and more coming
I'm sure! To see pictures and initial review of Kish Scheherezade, go here. Silky: My Favorite Doll ?
At long last, Pyrex is seeing a little progress towards having her face done. While I was at it, I beheaded Yashawulf to add some color to his eyes, and also started on the new male, tentatively named Wyddfa.
First, here is Pyrex (left). Not great by hobby standards, but not too bad for me (and it's at least the third iteration of her eyebrows). 13 February 2007: "I am here!" Well, sort of. I want to futz with her wig, but that will have to wait until Wyddfa and Yasha are assembled, and I can put away the paints and have my bead table back. Outfit by Charie Wilson, special for my fire elemental gal.
The newer (bendy-arm) Cissy dolls have a different figure from the older modern (straight-arm) Cissy dolls. They have slimmer hips and thighs, which gives them, to me a thicker-waisted look. If you pick up a copy of the October 2006 Haute Doll magazine, and look on page 114, this effect is very visible on the poor doll in the white lace slip; she looks positively matronly. Nouveau Dynamite Cissy, renamed Arisaema, after the Latin name for the jack-in-the-pulpit plant (thank you, Paghat!). Her undies caused some staining, and as we are not a formal household I sold her ensemble on eBay. Couture Noir's outfit is also gone, as is Extravagance's. I tried to take a photo that showed the staining on Arisaema; it isn't a great shot but it should give you an idea:

March 2006: I had a first go at painting a face-up and it is going to take a few tries (although in retrospect, maybe I should have kept the eyeliner and edge lashes... oh well....).
March-April 2006:
I had a second go (just below, right) ... making progress on the
brow shape. I have got to learn to place them lower though,
again, hindsight...
April 2006: ... and a third go (below), and am calling it enough for now and have to get back to beadwork! Silky and Yashawulf (the new male) are assembled and I hope to have Pyrex done soon. (June 2006: or not...) See photos below. Silky is planning a trip back to Kent Dollar and More to see Fred at Kent Comics again. They have gotten a lot of great new stuff since her last visit!
![]() Credits for Yashawulf: Wig assembled from an SD13 faux mohair wig and faux mohair and fun fur wig components by Sewaddictd. Unevenness of assembly is entirely my own fault. Outfit custom order from TheWeeWardrobe. I forget where I got the eyes. I set in two eyes that do not quite match, but they are very close. They are acrylic. Yasha went with me to the June 2006 Rock Swap at CAMA, and here is a shot of him modeling a turquoise-silver-and-coral necklace, while hanging with an American badger (Taxidea taxus) and an English one (Meles meles) on the back of my van. I need to redo his eyes! The sticker is from SOSA, and pertains to staying safe while exploring. See also my Events page, and Gems and Critters, and there are also links to SOSA, CAMA and other related sites. ![]() And now back to Silky, my original 60 cm Obitsu, and the prima yvex of the collection: First, here she is (right) at the "I give up," er, temporarily finished, stage, with Yasha: ![]() And here she is assembled: ![]() and a close-up... ![]() For more information on these Obitsu dolls, see also http://www.lizziewriter.com/id6fashionaction.html Silky credits: SD13 size fun fur wig by Sewaddictd. I need to tweak it just a little to fit the Obitsu but the size is very close. Charie Wilson outfit, made for a BJD (Silky is NOT a BJD, she is a durable, posable, wonderful jointed vinyl doll with a sturdy armature -- see info above and in the introduction) but I bid on it anyway after determining that it would, again, be close enough to fit her reasonably well. And it does. Charie now has Obitsu dolls and has made a number of perfectly tailored outfits for them. You may have seen some of her completely OOAK work in Art Doll Quarterly and elsewhere. "IRL," Silky is a very pale alien life form, in appearance somewhere between her look with and without the face-up. Here are comparion full-length photos of her, in her spirals outfit: Before: and After: ![]() Thanks for visiting! return to top lizziewriter home this page last updated 30 January 2007 (link added 28 Jan 2008) |
